Hearts unblocked: play Hearts online free right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on a school Chromebook.
Hearts is a celebrated four-player trick-taking card game where the traditional objective of card games is turned completely on its head. Rather than fighting to win as many tricks as possible, your primary mission in Hearts is evasion: sidestep danger suits, dump hazardous high cards onto unsuspecting opponents, and keep your penalty tally as close to zero as possible.
Every hand tests your memory, risk assessment, and foresight. While the rest of Big Shot Boxing delivers lightning-fast knockouts and frantic physics brawls, this digital edition of Hearts provides a measured tactical puzzle. It runs entirely inside your browser window with responsive card animations, allowing you to settle in for a full multi-round tournament or clear a quick hand during a short break.
How to play
A standard 52-card deck is distributed evenly among four players at the table. Rounds follow a structured sequence designed to test your ability to read the board:
- Passing phase: Before the first trick begins, you choose three cards from your hand to pass to an opponent. The direction alternates each round—passing left on the first hand, right on the second, across on the third, and holding your cards on the fourth.
- Leading the first trick: The player holding the Two of Clubs starts the opening trick. All players must follow suit by playing a Club if they have one. Point cards cannot be discarded during this initial trick.
- Following suit and discarding: On subsequent tricks, you must always follow the suit that was led if you hold any matching cards. If you are void in that suit, you are free to discard any card in your hand, including high-penalty Hearts or the Queen of Spades.
- Winning tricks: The player who plays the highest card of the led suit takes the trick and leads the following turn. There are no trump suits in Hearts.
- Breaking Hearts: You cannot lead a Heart until a Heart has already been discarded on a previous trick or you hold nothing else in your hand.
Tips and strategy
Consistent success in Hearts requires careful card management and vigilance:
- Create a void suit early: Focus on shedding your shortest non-spade suit during the opening passing phase and early tricks. Once you run out of a suit, you gain the freedom to discard heavy penalties whenever an opponent leads that color.
- Protect against the Queen of Spades: The Queen of Spades inflicts a crushing 13-point penalty. If you hold the Ace or King of Spades without enough low Spades to guard them, consider passing them away before the round starts.
- Defend against moon shots: If an aggressive opponent starts sweeping every trick and capturing all point cards, do not let them shoot the moon. Sacrifice a trick by deliberately taking a low Heart to break their sweep and force them to absorb the penalty points.

Questions about Hearts
Is Hearts unblocked at school?

What is the main goal in Hearts?
The goal in Hearts is to finish the match with the lowest score. You earn penalty points by capturing Hearts (one point each) or the Queen of Spades (thirteen points).
What does shooting the moon mean in Hearts?
Shooting the moon happens when one player collects all thirteen Hearts and the Queen of Spades in a single round. Instead of taking 26 points, all other players receive 26 penalty points.
Can I play Hearts on mobile or tablet devices?
Yes, Hearts runs directly in modern mobile and desktop web browsers using touch controls or mouse clicks with no installation required.
Which card must be led in the opening trick of Hearts?
The player holding the Two of Clubs must lead it on the very first trick of each round. Penalty cards cannot be played on this opening trick.
